LSUHSC-S Parking Regulations
All employees and students who wish to park on LSUHSC-S property must register and pay to park.
Operating a vehicle on the LSUHSC campus is a privilege granted by the institution. Serious or excessive violations can result in the loss of this privilege as well as disciplinary action.
LSUHSC assumes no responsibility for the care or protection of any vehicle or its contents at any time.
All vehicles driven on the LSUHSC campus must comply with all State of Louisiana Motor Vehicle Laws and LSUHSC Rules and Regulations.
Rules and Regulations for parking and traffic safety on the LSUHSC campus are developed by the Parking Committee, which is comprised of faculty, staff and students.
All vehicle registrations, parking decals, fine payments, and ticket appeals are conducted at the Parking Office of Auxiliary Services located on the First Floor of Administration Building, room 1-123. The Parking Office is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and available by phone 675-7651.
II. Vehicle Registration
All registered vehicles parked on LSUHSC-S property must display a current registration decal. The following will be needed to obtain a parking decal:
Current payroll receipt or current LSUHSC identification badge.
Employee ID and/or Social Security Number.
Current Motor Vehicle registration.
Employees may register up to two vehicles to park on campus. Parking two vehicles on campus at the same time registered to the same person is not permitted. Violators may be issued a citation and could have their parking privileges revoked.
Parking decals are not transferable. Decals should be removed from vehicles when validity expires or immediately upon change of ownership or disassociation from LSUHSC.
A citation shall be issued to any vehicle displaying an altered decal or a decal that is not permanently affixed.
Permit Decal Display
The official LSUHSC parking decal must be displayed on the DRIVER’S side of the vehicle REAR BUMPER or REAR WINDOW. Motorcycles must affix the decal to the front right fork.
Parking Decal Installation instructions are included on the reverse of the decal.
Surface must be clean and dry.
Decal must be displayed on rear, left side (driver’s side) of either the bumper, or the outside corner of the rear window.
Remove liner carefully. If cold, warm between hands.
Decals are non-transferrable.
Decal must be permanently affixed to the outside of the vehicle by its own adhesive.
- Damaged decals should be reported; a duplicate will be issued at no charge. A temporary decal may be issued for 1) a new vehicle prior to receiving motor vehicle registration; and 2) a vehicle driven on a temporary basis for a maximum of four weeks.
Fees for parking will be as prescribed and approved by the Board of Supervisors upon recommendation of the Dean and Chancellor.
Employee fees will be payroll deducted. Student fees will be collected at registration.
Parking fees paid by non-LSUHSC employees who work regularly on the campus (MAP, Credit Union, etc.) will be paid every six months by the individual or employer. These fees will be due on January 1 and July 1 of each year.

IV. Parking Zones
- LSUHSC has designated parking areas for students, faculty-staff, University Police, visitors and the handicapped.
- Each LSUHSC parking lot has an assigned color displayed at the lot entrance and on the LSUHSC parking decal. Some lots are grouped together by color. A person assigned to a parking lot may park in another lot of the same color when their assigned lot is full. All persons may park in the Chevyland Lot when their assigned parking lot is full.
- Patient Parking is reserved for patients and visitors only. Employees and students parking in patient lots will be issued a violation and may be subject to disciplinary action.

There will be no waiting list maintained for preferred parking lots. Title (first) and seniority (second) are considerations for preferred parking. Employees are assigned to close in lots as space allows.
V. Shuttle Service
- A university administered shuttle service is available weekdays from 6:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. This service consists of a contracted charter bus.
- A bus shelter is provided for employees at Chevyland. Employees are picked up and dropped off in this area. Employees are then transported to the BRI Building shuttle stop. After 6:00 p.m. the shuttle pick-up is located at the K-Wing entrance of the hospital. These are the only stops the shuttle makes and deviations from the prescribed route are not allowed.
- A Security Guard is stationed at Chevyland during service hours. Chevyland is closed weekends and holidays.
- Registered employees who are assigned to Chevyland can park in close-in lots after 2:30 p.m. on weekdays and all weekend, but must vacate those lots by 7:00 a.m the following business day. Failure to do so may result in a citation.
VII. Vehicle Parking Regulations
- All vehicles must be parked within the confines of a marked parking space. Parking is prohibited in any area not specifically designated for parking.
- Vehicles will not be parked or placed facing the flow of oncoming traffic.
- Parking is prohibited in any area where traffic cones or barricades have been placed.
- Double parking is prohibited.
- Overnight parking on campus is restricted to students, faculty, staff and official guests of the University. Patients may park overnight in patient parking lots.
- No parking is allowed where curb is RED.
- Parking for handicapped is marked in BLUE. Only non-employee vehicles with handicap license plates or placards are authorized to park in handicap areas.
- Permanently Handicapped employees must register for parking and will be allowed to park in A, B, D, and F-Lot where the handicap parking is designated.
- Temporarily Handicapped employees and students must register with the Parking Office for a LSUHSC Temporary Handicapped Parking Permit to park in one of the dozen LSUHSC Temporary Handicapped Parking places around C Building. Temporary Handicapped Parking Permits are valid for up to 4 weeks. Employees and students must register for a new Temporary Handicapped Parking Permit once the original one expires. Eligible employees and students must be registered to park on LSUHSC property.
- Employees who are certified through the Office of Motor Vehicles as disabled and who work in the Ambulatory Care Clinic may be eligible to park in the controlled parking lot on the west side of the ACC building. Employees must present their OMV disabled permit as well as approval from their manager/supervisor to the Parking Office. Once verification of parking registration and payment is made, the request is forwarded to Hospital Administration. Hospital Administration will review the request and if approved, a code will be issued to the employee to gain access to the lot and a placard will be provided for display on the dashboard of the approved employee’s vehicle. Employees must be registered to park on campus and must use the designated handicapped spaces located on the west end of the parking lot. Should a designated handicapped space not be available, the employee must park in their registered lot. Employees who communicate the code to any other individual - employee, patient or visitor - are subject to a loss of campus parking privileges. Employees parking in non-designated handicapped spaces also face loss of parking privileges as these spaces are reserved for clinic patients. (added 3.2007)
VIII. Moving Vehicle Violations
- The parking lot speed limit is 5 MPH.
- Obey all traffic control signs, crosswalks, and requests by University Police officers concerning vehicles.
- Operating a motor vehicle in an area other than a street, roadway, or parking lot intended for motor vehicles use is prohibited.
- All accidents must be reported immediately to the University Police.
- U-turns are prohibited on all streets.
IX. Bicycle Regulations
- Bicycles must obey all motor vehicle laws.
- Bicycles at night must display lights in accordance with Louisiana State law.
- Bicycles shall not be ridden on sidewalks.
- Bicycles must park in racks provided. Racks are located near the library entrance and courtyard area of the Allied Health Building.
X. General Provisions
- Neither inclement weather or special events will alter provisions of these regulations.
- The person to whom the decal is issued is responsible for the vehicle and traffic tickets issued to it on campus. Transferring decals is prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.
- Falsifying traffic tickets, removing traffic tickets from parked vehicles, or purchasing decals for others may subject the violator to disciplinary action. Flagrant violations may cause the permanent loss of parking privileges on campus.
- Students with indebtedness to the University because of parking violations will not be permitted to re-enroll, graduate or procure a transcript until such indebtedness is paid.
- No oversized vehicles are allowed on LSUHSC-S parking lots without authorization from University Police (UPD).
- Disabled or abandoned vehicles must be reported immediately to the University Police.
- Major repairs and/or oil changes are not allowed on campus.
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way over motor vehicles when crossing the street in areas marked as pedestrian crossings.
- All persons riding in vehicles must be seated and must wear seat belts in accordance with Louisiana state law.
- All types of skates and skateboards are prohibited inside buildings and on sidewalks on LSUHSC campus.
XI. Fines and Fees
- All fines and fees must be paid within five business days to avoid a late payment penalty.
- Traffic citations are paid in the Parking Office of Auxiliary Services located in Administration Building 1-123.
- A fee of $15 (plus $5 late payment penalty) is charged for the following:
- Failure to register a vehicle
- Parking in a restricted area
- No display of decal/permit
- Making U-turn
- Parking facing flow of traffic
- Vehicle not parked within confines of a designated parking space
- Improper display of decal/permit
The fine for parking in areas listed below will be $30 (plus $5 late payment penalty):
- Handicap Zone without a permit
- Loading Zone
- Fire Lane (Red Curb)
- Tow-away Zone
- University Vehicle Spaces
- University Police Spaces
- Receipt of four or more unresolved tickets or parking two vehicles registered to one person on campus at the same time may result in 1) disciplinary action; or 2) a vehicle being towed.
- In the event a vehicle is towed from LSUHSC premises, the driver will be informed upon reporting to the University Police Office. The driver will be advised of the location of the towing service and the amount of money necessary to claim the vehicle. The driver will receive a parking citation and will lose their parking privileges for one year.
- Individuals with six or more unresolved violations within a calendar year will be suspended from parking on LSUHSC property until payment of all fines is verified.
- Failure to receive a parking ticket that has been properly issued shall not relieve the individual of any fines or fees resulting from the issuance of the parking ticket.
- Citation appeals shall be adjudicated through the Parking Committee. It is the duty of the person wishing to appeal a citation to contact the Parking Office of Auxiliary Services and complete the proper form within 5 days of citation issuance. The Parking Committee meets once a month.
- Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport reserves the right to change any or all of these regulations as necessary.
The library is located in the C building of the medical school. Its entrances are on the first floor of the building.
The Health Sciences Library’s mission is to equip users with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively utilize biomedical information resources. The library provides expertise in information management to advance the institutional goals of instruction, clinical care, research, and knowledge-based regional economic development. In addition, the library serves as a health information resource for the community.
The library is an academic department in the School of Medicine and serves as the principal information resource for the School of Medicine, the School of Graduate Studies, the School of Allied Health Professions, and the staff of University Health.
The library provides access to over 100 databases, over 4,700 electronic journals, and over 1,600 electronic books. Study rooms are available on the ground and 2nd floors of the library. For materials not owned by the health sciences library, interlibrary loan is available for a fee.
Two computer labs are available in the library. Lab computers have standard productivity software pre-installed. SPSS is also available on the lab computers.
Wireless and wired connectivity are available throughout the library.
Remote/off-campus access to the library’s electronic resources is available through the campus virtual private network (VPN).
All departments and programs in the School of Allied Health Professions have a library faculty member assigned to them, as a liaison librarian. Your liaison librarian is happy to be your first point of contact with the library and its services.

Color printing and black-and-white printing are available. Color is 35 cents per page and black-and-white is 10 cents per page. Flatbed scanners and a book scanner are also available. Some laptop and phone chargers are also available to borrow at the library’s information desk. See any staff member at the library’s information desk for details on using this equipment.
As of 2016, copying and printing charges are paid with student ID badges. Please see library staff at the information desk for assistance.
